hey pace, my name is tim and i'm new to the MOC also. i'm 26 and in the Navy, but unlike you i don't have a wife. i figure if the Navy wanted me to have one, they'd issue one in my seabag! i bought a 06 3400rl about a week ago and am now a fulltimer down in pensacola, florida (now in jax, fl due to the hurricane). so far, i've traveled about 1,800 miles w/ the new 5er and barely got settled in before dennis hit. however, the short time i've been in the 5er, i have absolutely loved it!!! i think buying it and fulltiming is the best idea i have ever had. i'm sure you'll have the same experience if you end up buying one too.
