Orv, I take exception to your statement about the 3/4 tons being stressed with the longer model Montanas.

1) It is in fact the smaller Montanas that have the higher pin weights so there is actually less stress with the longer ones

2) Towing wise, the 3/4 and 1 tons both have the same engine so no difference in towing power. As a matter of fact the 3/4 tons typically can legally tow more since both trucks typically have the same GCWR and the 3/4 ton weighs less.

And another thought to consider, previous to our 3400RL, we towed a 98 Cardinal 30' with 2 slides. Although the 3400 is almost 2000# heavier, I am fully convenced there is little or no significant difference in acceleration performance. At highway speeds, the TV actually performs better with the heavier 3400 than the Cardinal as I get approximately 2 more MPG. I believe this is because of the more aerodynamically shaped front cap of the Montana.

Size and lenght do not always tell the tale. And I'm talking trailers!
