Mikesal,

Al has read a LOT of forum posts, on this forum and others. He said he has never read of a failure on OEM extended hitchpins. He has read, where people have changed from a regular to an extended and had frame problems. He is telling me (I am typing as he is talking), that you need to check with the manufactuer before doing such a change and that in the cases he has read about the trailer was not manufactured for an extended hitchpin and that it puts different forces on the frame, therefore the trouble and problems.

I am sure some of the other fellows will come along with more comments and ideas on your questions.

Good luck with that roof repair!
