For what its worth, government can reduce the price at the pump if they'd reduce the amount of taxes they take. Yep, the producers make a profit but they take the risk, government does NOTHING. The feds take almost $0.20 a gallon and the states take the following: http://www.gaspricewatch.com/usgastaxes.asp (look at all the hidden additional fees - testing of Diesel fuel fee in New York state?). That amounts to over $0.50 cents a gallon in New York for example!
