We have a 2007 Monty, 2955RL, and the first thing we did was cut down the king sized platform to a queen, much more space in the bedroom to move around. Then I removed the bed platform, and added some nice kiln dried pine 2" by 4"'s on edge on the base of the bed platform, then reattached the bed platform and lift arms. The little woman likes the higher bed, easier to make the bed, and of course a bit more space in the storage underneath.
We gave our king mattress to some friends who had a Cardinal with a really cheap mattress and our king was better.
We then went to a foam shop and got a 6" high density foam mattress, queen short which is what is needed in the RV and the mattress has that egg carton waffle top on both sides, so we can easily flip it. The mattress is heavenly to sleep on, easy to take in and out, easy to flip, and of course lighter as we should all be concerned with overall weight growth in our rigs. We paid $350 for the mattress, and also got 100% pure latex foam pillows, paid $69 each for them, but they are great. You don't have to keep on scrunching them up into a ball to prevent your neck from getting stiff.
