Several of us have the smaller portable units. We have a Honda 2000eui. We've used ours for a couple of years. It will NOT power an AC unit but will run everything else. Some members have a couple of these units that can be connected to supply double the power.
The main thing to consider is how quiet the unit runs. You WANT the quietest one you can afford. Your neighbors will also thank you for getting a quiet unit. The cheaper construction type generators are VERY noisy and you should avoid them.
