Actually, the combustion air is gathered from outside. The heated air supposedly is recirculated. But the answer to your question is illustrated in the picture that was posted. These trailers get air from the most readily available place. As you can see the "return" grills are not ducted to the furnace. All they do is give the inside air to go when the furnace comes on.
