Ford 6.7 MPG

New to forum. I did a search on forum but couldn't get an answer to this exact question. I have a 2012 F350 SRW 6.7 diesel (15,000 miles on odometer). Right now I am getting between 13 and 17 mpg using it in my construction business, loaded with tools, ladder racks, and sometimes pulling 3,000 2-axle trailer. I ran into another F350 owner the other day (he was plowing a truck stop). He said he has owned two F350's in a row with same engine. He claimed that with each one he got around 15mpg until he hit 20,000 miles and then he started getting 22-24mpg on the highway unloaded! He said it was like someone "threw a switch" at 20,000 miles. Has anyone else experienced this huge increase at about 20,000 miles with the new 6.7? Also, if the 6.7 does average over 20 or 22mpg after 20,000 miles, what can I expect pulling my 3400RL loaded?
