I have a TST system that monitors all the tires including the trailer spare. Is it overkill? Maybe.
I forgot to mention that the TPMS on the truck only alarms when the pressure is REALLY low, so when I am adding a few pounds to a couple of trailer tires it is convenient to know that the truck tires are fine or maybe there might be a tire that needs a little air. The factory TPMS for my year and model does not give psi, it just alarms when the pressure drops to a warning level.
