This is an issue with GM trucks. The distance between the sides of the box is less than Fords, don't know about Rams. So that when you're making a tight turn, the back corners of the King Pin box hit the sides. Sounds like your's is just like mine, will just clear if on level ground but any dips or bumps it will hit.
BIL didn't listen to me when I told him to be careful and ripped into the side of his Chevy.
Don't know if the 5th Airborne would fix or not, I just try to be careful and so far have only carved up the mounting rails of my Roll-n-Lock cover.
