I had the same issue on my previous toy hauler. I couldn’t get the plug apart either. Came up with an idea that i used a couple of times. My DW stood on the cord and i pulled on the the outer covering from way down the cord. Did a couple of times and the outer covering came al the way up into the plug. Needs to be warm, i don’t it would work cold. I didn't tape it, couldn't come up with a way to do it. Montana has a cord reel and at my age I wouldn't have any other way. Those cords are heavy.
