I'm not sure what your point is. Of course our tax dollars are paying for this. Just like our tax dollars paid for RRs trips to Santa Barbara and GWs trips to TX.
The article did indicate that the NPS was having a FEE FREE WEEKEND. So wouldn't they lose the revenue anyway?
