From your description it sounds as though you have a bad battery that will no longer take a charge and in need of replacing. You can have this checked out at any reputable battery dealer.
The single 12 volt battery that came with the Monty should be all the battery you need for normal RV use.
If you were a boondocker/dry camper than the dual golf cart batteries could be recommended.
