Consumer Report just tested all three major flex hoses, Pocket Hose $28. FlexAble Hose,$39,and DAP X Hose,$48. All three lived up to most of their TV informercial promises in our kinking, twisting, slashing, and freezing tests. We even found a clear winner, the Pocket Hose, if you want higher flow far from the spigot but have wimpy water pressure. If any part is damaged in the hose it can't be repaired. None burst unil water pressure reached 200 psi. Keep out of the sun if not in use. They may also shrink under low water pressure. They all did a good job at 60psi but at 40psi they stated to retract. The PocketHose shrank the least, losing roughly 10 feet of lengh compared with 30 feet for the others. Because they shrink to their original size when the water is turned off all thre are poor choices for sprinklers.
