Let me know how the hot glue works, I tried it and it did work for a number of months, then one day, just popped right off.
Some MOCers have had good luck with a small screw in the ends of the caps.
IIRC, seems to me a few were even brave enough to use some super glue on those end caps. That'll hold em!
