I miss the days of mechanical fuel pumps. Drove semi truck 13 years for 1.75M miles. Never once had a fuel pump problem. Shoot - back then almost never even heard of any drivers having fuel pump problems. I guess I'm just old fashioned though, as I miss the days of points and condensers for gas engines.....
I know - "new fangled whiz bang gizmos are more efficient!". They also wind up in the shop. SIL's semi just got out of the shop after 3 plus weeks due to the "new - better" stuff. Thankfully he and my daughter seem to have a good head for managing budgets. Otherwise I would have been bailing them out. The longest time one of my semi tractors was ever in the shop was for 5 days - for an engine overhaul due to age...
