99% chance its the anode rod doing its job. Get a new one at any RV dealer/shop, then replace. Be sure to shut down the city water and water pump, open a hot water faucet in the unit, then remove the rod. If its just gunked up with junk, clean it off, flush the heater, and put it back in. If its really almost gone, replace it. Replacements are 7 - 10 dollars.
