I am sure this can't be as difficult as I am making it.

Hail damaged two of the plastic vent covers and I need to replace them. I can remove the knob that raises and lowers the cover but can not get at the two screws that hold the lifting mechanism in place. The screen needs to come loose but I can not figure out how to get it out. The screen seems to be attached to the metal bar holding the lifting mechanism.

If anyone will help with the secret to doing that it would be appreciated.
