It plugs into your OBD-II port under your drivers side dash. It uses the difference between driving unhooked versus hooked up, to calculate the weight of the trailer. It is not exact but gives a ballpark. There is one on amazon for $89.
The item hasnt been on the market for long, so the price is still settling. I imagine competitors will soon hit the market bringing it even lower.
