The LLY is known for running hotter than the LB7 or LBZ. My LB7 towing in temps as high as 109 will still hold dead center of the temp gauge. I don't watch the engine temp gauge as much as I watch my Pyrometer, keeping my EGT under 1,150 degrees usually keeps my engine temp dead center. You are right, the fan kicks on and you would think there was a 747 taking off in front of you. =)
