We have a king and love it, But your right as it does take up space. The oem mattress lasted less than a year. We full time so we just got a 10" mattress in a box from Walmart. I think around 300 dollars. most mattress last only 5 to 8 years. so even if we had to change it out every 3 years. We still are not spending over 1000 dollars in 9 years. Just something to think about. And yes it comfortable, at least for us.
