Very Sorry to hear of your loss but your positive attitude is an inspiration.

I think that the rest of us on Moc can learn something however from your experience.

As one who lives on the NC Atlantic Coast, we've been chased from our home twice in the last 7 years as a hurricane bore down on us. Fortunately in both occasions our home survived.

Both times when we left we took a good look as we knew it could be the last time we see our home standing. Becasue of that we looked around the house for things that we just couldn't imagine losing and wanted to bring with us.... along with some important papers.

It was amazing how little there was that we felt we just had to take. A memento of this or that. A treasured keepsake, but not much couldn't be replaced. We have all of our photos digitized and on both computers.

So - when we leave either for a hurricane evac, or for several months on the road - we take our hurricane box with us. It doesn't take very much space (the size of a couple of shoe boxes) but provides us with what we need should the unimaginable happen.
