My first Montana lasted 8 years and 70,000 miles and had staples lifting up the whole time. Never came thru the surface. My newer one is has done 8 1/2 years and another 70,000 miles and staples never popped thru, although the surface was getting grainy and almost like coarse sandpaper, so I had a new one sprayed on last fall.
