Protecting slide awnings

Hi all,

We may spend some time this fall in snowy weather. I wonder if any of you have tricks to minimize the snow load stress on the slide awnings.

I don’t know if this would work but I had thought about getting some old but usable car tire inner tubes, inflating them and sliding them under the awnings to help offset the snow load.

Thoughts/suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
