For me the tire was running 15⁰ hotter than the others. When I pulled over I used a laser thermometer to check the tires 120⁰F (same as TPMS), the hub, 167⁰F and the drum 248⁰F.
I suspected the brake was dragging. When I went underneath I saw the brake spring wire sticking out of the inspection hole and it rubbed a groove in the tire. I bent the wire out of the way and went slow down the road 20 miles to our next Campground.
There I replaced the tire and brake assembly.
