I have Ascot single slow rise roller shades on 2017 High Country. Had two replaced on warranty due to self rollers breaking. YES we did sometimes travel with them down. Also had two come loose pulling screws from wall.
When three more self rollers quit I got Ascot to send me 6 repair kits so I had spares and easily repaired those broken 3.
I have since always raised shades to relieve any unnecessary strain in hangers or open shades bouncing against windows. I CANNOT SAY if this helps or hurts but IMHO it is the precaution I have started in hopes of preventing any additional issues.
