You could try replacing the screening and gently try reinserting the rubber spline, however, once the screening is streched and trimmed there is not much material left over to work with. Without the proper tool for spline replacement you could possibly try using a butter knife. Don't try using anything sharper than that.
I would go to a home improvement center and buy the screening material and a spline replacement tool. This tool should not cost more than $3-$5 bucks. It will have a handle in the middle and two washer like disks on each end. One of the disks will have a concave edge and the other disks edge will be a convexed edge. Just roll the splining rope into the channel with the tool. Before going to purchase screening material check the rubber rope and make sure it is reusable, or you will have to buy new rope also. Also, leave the tool in the trailer when the job is completed as you will no doubt need it again in the future.
