We also live in the edge of the country, no nearby creeks or streams, and 2-3 years ago we had an abnormally wet spring and early summer. And had some of those guys show up in our yard. First and only time in 38 years living here that they have appeared. They are common in area wetlands, just never made it this far out of them.
