Does your Reese have the handle on the drivers side that says locked towing on one end and locked maneuvering on the other? If it does the handle must be in the neutral position to let the slider slide from one position to the other. That's the way mine works anyway-- you might have a different Reese slide than I do however! I'm sure there will be others along with advise or other questions!
