Buck,
We carry laptops for several reasons:
more portable
more resistant to vibration
take up less room
easy to move to another room, outside, or to the TV when needed
easy to add an external keyboard and monitor
easy to set up with a wireless card (or comes with integrated
wireless, which will save battery more than an external card)
just as capable as a desktop, these days
I said laptops because, if we only had one, our trips might be a lot shorter due to friction.
