We’ve been staying at a large RV park in Arizona for the last 8 months, while waiting for our house to be built. Most of the people staying here are long term residents doing the same. Although we do lock our door when gone, I don’t always lock the storage compartments, and we leave lawn chairs, BBQ, and other stuff out, as do most people here. Never had a problem (so far). I guess some areas are worse than others. But it is a good warning.
