I thought I was well away from moving parts as well. Evidently my calibrated eyeball was out of kilter. The repair wont take very long once the @#$% snow disappears.

If you are using a good brand of heavy black nylon cable ties, they will last for many years as there is some carbon black added for environmental resistance. White ones are at the mercy of heat and light. I used plastic cable clamps though as that is what I had available in my shop odds and ends left overs from my car habit.
