First they have to show being over the rating was the cause of or contributed to the accident. Otherwise there is no liability for being over. For private vehicles in the United States the ratings are advisory. They are not legal limits. My insurance company said they would have to pay but likely would then cancel me.

Like Bill said, where's all these accidents? With as many millions of miles having been accumulated under these circumstances, surely there must be a wealth of accident information out there. Where is it?
