OK, try this: Your FOB sends one set of codes to lock your vehicle and another set of codes to unlock. So if they capture the locking code all they should be able to do is lock your vehicle. I would think they would have to capture your unlock code when you returned to your vehicle, then they could follow hoping you had other stops near by. Dealers by jumper certain terms on the OBC plug can program a new FOB in minutes.
Just my thoughts, backed up by reading the entire post as Rich suggested. Per Snopes that e-mail was not approved by them
