The first ones produced had a latch and the later ones have the shock absorber. In February when we went to the show the one we looked at had a latch and it was broken. I thought it was a poor design and figured I'd find a way to deal with it. When ours arrived in May it had the shock absorber.

BillyRay, I believe you should have no problem getting one from a dealer and installing it yourself. It attaches over the top of the door jam and to the top of the door. It's completely out of the way.

You will have to get used to the door opening without you pushing / pulling it open. The shock absorber opens the door. The first time I opened the door from the inside I almost went flying out of the camper. Opening the door is similar to what happens when the wind pulls it out of our hand. Sort of scarry the first couple of times!
