One major difference is that the Kindle has a permanent keyboard, and the Nook has a graphic display screen at the bottom with multiple functions. Not too much real difference, but you can't download library books onto the Kindle. It's supported by Amazon, and the Nook is supported by Barnes and Noble, if that makes a difference.
