This is about the large American Legion Post #137 at Jacksonville, FL with its thousands of members.
To become a member you have to provide proof of military service; such as a DD-214 card or any military ID card, active or reserve.
Post 137 has a gated RV Park. It has 6 FHU sites and 2 water/elect sites at the edge of the Cedar River. Within the gated area there is a two lane paved boat launching area with floating docks and a large grassy field for parking your tow vehicle and boat trailer while you enjoy boating on the Cedar River/ST. Johns River. (The Cedar River dumps into the St. Johns River about a mile below the RV Park.
The post has a motor cycle club and a fishing club. There is a full sized Olympic pool adjacent to the RV Park with an active tiki bar.
The club has a large horse shoe bar, dancing and meeting area, offices and a full kitchen for serving Sunday breakfasts and Friday steak dinners to order. There is usually live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The RV Park will take reservations but they are not required. Because it’s a private club, RV visitors can only stay 30 days. To stay another 30 days you have to move-out for 24 hours to restart the 30 day limit.
Because we lived at Jacksonville for 24 years we have a lot of friends that are members of this post. So we stay there often. Here are some pictures of the RV parking area. We like site #6 with its unobstructed view of the river and boat launching area.
