Grampachet: Many years ago I remember a motor sergeant doing a demo of getting a GMC Blazer unstuck using WD40 -- in Germany and had changed from the old M151 1.5 ton trucks to the Dodge and GMC Blazers -- any way they had tires that would gum up so fast and you went NO Where fast once off the road. He was showing the drivers how they could use WD40 poured on sandbags and then laid on the ground to pull out of self-dug holes -- only thing I really remember was him telling how the WD stood for Water Dispersant and that it had some sort of reaction with the water on the top and bottom and allowed you to get traction. Never saw it in action but heard of several drivers using the trick -- back in 75/76 time frame.
