In April we stayed at and highly recommend Stone Mountain Campground
http://www.stonemountainpark.com/new...mping_camp.asp which is within Stone Mountain Park. You cannot beat this park for location to the mountain and any of the attractions.
The campground is great but a number of the sites leave a lot to be desired. The following link is to a page of photos of our trip to Stone Mtn. Scroll to the bottom of the page for pics of our site.
http://fulltimingit.irv2.com/picsstnmtn.html You will notice that our site was kind of tight with no room for the awning and little room for sitting around the rig. You had to be careful as the site had quite a drop off on 3 sides. But it was overlooking the lake with Stone Mountain in the background.
We will return to Stone Mountain in the future and YES we will stay at Stone Mountain Campground but will be a little choosier in our choice of a camp site. Of the 441 sites many were better than the one we were in.
