I took 1x2 strips and screwed the old school black rubber bungee cords to them. I then mounted them along the top edge of the front wall of the basement to hang things like drills, levels, slip chair legs under to hold them flat against the wall etc.
On the curb side we welded up a rack that allows for three large plastic foldable milk crates to sit in.
I hate loose things on the floor of the basement so we hang as much as we can!
