One thing you might consider is going with a 4 leg table instead of a pedestal. Will open up space where pedestal was. If you are handy enough, you can make your own 4 leg table that will have legs that fold up so you can open up that space when needed. I have considered taking the top off the pedestal and making 4 fold in legs for it. Haven’t started anything yet but it looks possible as my table is screwed together. Just something to consider.
