Activities in the finger Lakes are wineries, craft breweries, wineries, hiking the Glen at Watkins Glen, wineries, boat cruises on the lakes, golf, Corning Glassworks, a few craft distilleries and wineries. If there is something going on at the track in Watkins Glen, you could check out the auto races.
New York’s finger lakes provide excellent soil and weather for Rieslings but other wines are good also. We like the state parks for their low cost, have been to most of them but the most 5er friendly in our opinion is Sampson State park on Seneca Lake, Keuka lake state park on Keuka lake and Watkins Glen state park in Watkins Glen at the south end of Seneca lake, but there are only a few sites there for 40 footers. Most sites in the trailer/rv loops have 30 amp some have 50 amp. The dump stations have multiple spaces so there is little to no wait and they have separate potable spigots well away from the non potable flush water spigots, also plenty of potable hydrants in the camping loops to fill jugs or hook up to for a few minutes to fill your tank if your staying a while and need more water. The reservation window for the state parks opens 9 months in advance.
Karen is a wine girl, if you are interested, she would be glad to share her list of favorite wineries, but everyone’s tastes are different.
