My only suggestion would be to make sure it is tight and secure however you do it. And have someone trail behind you after having it mounted to make sure it carries them well. Some seem to ride ok. But I have also been behind 5ers with receiver mounted bike racks and the bikes were bouncing so much up and down and side to side I couldn't help but think that some day they were going to break loose. And that was on relatively smooth roads. I can only imagine what they do on some roads I have been on.
I carry ours laying flat in the long bed but still considering the pin box mounted type rack.
