Rich, you're definitely not the only one with chips. Our 2 month old 3100 has been on 2 trips, and I have chips clear up on the nose cap! Crazy! I'm going to look in to a 3M coating to protect it from the bugs and rocks. We probably have 25-50 chips as delivered from the factory, and whatever I added on the two trips. I have the rock tamers, but I also have chips...go figure. Touch up and a film appliqué will probably be my solution. It's expensive, but I'll probably be happier in the long run.
