I got the Avanti several weeks ago. Plugged it in to test it out and was suprised to find out how much heat it generates! I thought something was wrong with the unit or something! Anyway, once it got to it's set freezing temperature, it was no longer hot to the touch on the side or putting out any heat. Just a note. Steve says he found something to this effect in the archives as well about small freezers being hot until they reach the set point!
I found the Avanti to be more expensive online...around 279 with and without shipping. If you have a good applicance store (like I found in Bismarck, ND of all places) I was able to purchase the 3.2 cubic feet for 179. Best price I found!
rich, I am familiar with Haier products. We have used the small frig's in the hospital for a long time. They are very dependable as well. I looked at that model, it was just too wide for where I wanted to put it.
