We have a different view than some of the previous posts. Our dealer contacted the AC manufacturer and was told that placing the heat strip in the ducted unit was not a preoblem. We had one put in and it works fine. It does take 3-5 minutes to generate enough heat to be noticed but then works fine. Ours is controlled though the regular thermostat, there was a space on the thermostat marked heat strip.
