I guess I will go with the Dimplex. I have a plan and I will be putting a little mantel and frame around the Dimplex fireplace insert that Home Depot sells. I am still undecided to go with oak or ceramic tile. I can make it fit by coming out of the shallow cupboard by 3 inches and this will not interfere with the slide. It will be awhile before I get around to this but I will post pics of the project when I complete it. Oak is quite a bit more expensive than tile and the tile on such a small project will not add more than 20 pounds so I am leaning towards tile.
I have done quite a few tile mantels on gas fireplaces and when you use the brass trim to finish the edge of the tile, it is a nice effect. Fire and brass go well.
