Good questions. We plan on doing 'Off grid' camping. We need to make each battery amp and each gallon of Propane last as long as possible. The furnace works super, keeps the trailers warm. It is also an energy hog. About 40% of the Propane is wasted, go out and warm your hands on the exhaust, that is wasted fuel. My furnace pulls 6.5 amps, a single factory-supplied battery wouldn't last 20 hrs with the normal lighting, furnace and other loads if not connected to a generator or 'Park power'.
My heater is close to 100% efficient, you don't have to use the small fan on it, but if you do, it pulls around 1/2 amp.
With this 'Open flame' heater, also the Catalytic heaters, you need to open a roof vent a little to vent the humid air. It isn't bad.

Edit: Make that 5.6 amps. Dyslexic....
