I am far from a diesel expert...so I WISH I knew what I was talking about. With that qualification...

I would think about changing your filter before the trip. I replace the fuel filter per their recommendations (every 15k miles or so) but 15,000 miles comes quick for me since this truck WAS my daily driver...but now with the covid work stop I don't know how long it would take me to hit 15k miles on the filter. Maybe someone else here will know if "age" is a factor for GM fuel filters...but 18 months on a filter sounds like a lot to me.
