Huh,I had those issues with my first 2004 Monty with slide toppers because they were old and sagged but my 2012 and my 2015 especially my 2015 they are tighter and angled down instead of being installed flat like my 2004 , the new one's are ALOT BETTER and I do not have most of those issue's like you said AKA debris under the awning????Never.. and a bunch of maintenence..Nope ,I have never cleaned them and they still look great(being black in color helps) and big pools of water???not much and when they do a little wind blows off the water,BUT yeah no matter how good the new one's are they will still make noise in 45+MPH winds for sure unlike my 2004 where they would Howl and flap in 20MPH wind
